18th Annual ATC Conference: Winning Techniques & Treatments

The 18th Annual ATC Winning Techniques + Treatments Conference, hosted by the Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey (OINJ), was held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Panther Valley Golf & Country Club in Allamuchy Township, NJ. 

The event is a significant gathering for professionals in sports medicine, featuring insights from the Philadelphia Eagles Athletic Training Staff and offering a platform for dynamic exchanges among experts in the field.  The Philadelphia Eagles Athletic Training Staff, including Head Athletic Trainer Jerome Reid, Vice President of Sports Medicine Tom Hunkele, Assistant Athletic Trainer Shaniece Jackson, Associate Athletic Trainer Joe O’Pella, Assistant Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist Monte Wong, Physical Therapist/Assistant Athletic Trainer Steve Feldman, and Physical Therapist/Athletic Trainer Trey Kunz, shared their expertise on various topics.

The conference began with an excellent networking opportunity for attendees before transitioning into the main event, which included presentations, dinner, and an open Q&A session. Key presentations focused on cutting-edge surgical repair techniques for ACL injuries, the management of Achilles tendon injuries, and rehabilitation programs for pectoralis major ruptures. These sessions aimed to enhance participants' understanding of the efficacy and outcomes of new surgical approaches, conservative management strategies, and evidence-based rehabilitation protocols. The interactive format encouraged lively discussions, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among the attendees.

Participants left the conference with a deeper understanding of current trends, controversies, and advancements in sports medicine, including diagnostics, treatment modalities, and injury prevention strategies. The event also emphasized the importance of integrating evidence-based practices and clinical decision-making in sports medicine. 

The conference was approved for a maximum of three hours of Category A continuing education for Certified Athletic Trainers, making it a valuable opportunity for professional development.
